British Values
Intent
At our school, we want every child to grow into a confident, respectful, and responsible citizen who understands the values that make Britain such a special place to live. We teach democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs in ways that are meaningful and fun. Our goal is to help children appreciate diversity, celebrate fairness, and learn how to make a positive difference in their community and beyond.
Implementation
British Values aren’t just words on a page—they come to life in our classrooms and across the school and curriculum. Children learn about rights and responsibilities in lessons like PSHE and history, and they take part in exciting activities that make these ideas real. They debate important topics, share their opinions respectfully, and learn to listen to others. We celebrate Parliament Week, Diversity Week, and Remembrance services, giving children the chance to understand and honour key moments in British life. Through assemblies, themed days, and creative projects, pupils explore different cultures and traditions, helping them grow into thoughtful and tolerant individuals.
Impact
Our children leave primary school ready for the world. They know how to respect others, value diversity, and speak up for what they believe in. They are confident in expressing their views and understand the importance of listening to different opinions. Most importantly, they feel proud to be part of a community that celebrates British heritage while welcoming everyone. These experiences prepare them to thrive in a democratic society and to make a positive impact wherever they go.
